Advertising revenue for Sports sites is growing rapidly

Great article from the New York Times on the competition for sports writers. This is a great sign for sports websites (at least those that don’t have to compete for the sports writers!). Clearly the ad revenue that ESPN and Yahoo are generating from their sports content and fantasy games is huge and they are investing heavily to increase their content and ad inventory/page views. It sounds like both ESPN and Yahoo have doubled their sports writers in the past two years.

At the most recent Fantasy Sports Trade Association conference, it was an ongoing joke about ESPN hiring all of the sports writers in attendance.

Advertising on sports websites is clearly strong…which is great for PlayerSearch!
